Being a Mom means I have a Coffee Problem

  Yesterday was my first Mother's Day. As I sat alone on my couch reflecting on how the past year had changed my life, I realized just how much I love being a Mom. It amazes me that such a small person can take up such a giant space in my heart. So today's post is a little sappy, and a little funny.

  What does being a Mom mean? My answers kind of depend on what kind of day we are having. So if Friday you asked me what being a Mom meant I probably would have said something like this;
"Being a mom means that all I do is change shitty diapers, and feed this little Tater who wants to eat every two hours right now. It also means that I live in yoga pants, never get to shower, and coffee is the only friend who hasn't left me. Even though you are being a dick today, I still love you."
Then if you were to ask me Saturday I would have said;
"Being a Mom is pretty much the greatest thing I've ever done. Being a Mom means that regardless of how many times you pee on my new shirts, I'm going to love you forever. It means that even on days where you are screaming for absolutely no reason, I still love you."
And finally if you were to ask me on a day that I got 8 hours of sleep;
"BEING A MOM MEANS THAT EVERYTHING IS PERFECT AND SUNSHINE AND RAINBOWS!!!! I slept last night and it was more than 45 minutes so I'm pretty sure I can climb Everest with a screaming baby on my back! Being a Mom ROCKS!''

  Everyday my opinion on "What being a Mom is" changes because everyday is something new. There are days were Tater just wants to scream and be held all day. Those days leave me drained, both mentally and physically. It's always a day that B is super busy with work, so I can't even talk to him. It's like Tater is plotting against me. On those days I hide in my bathroom when he is finally down for a nap and severely question if I'm doing everything I can to be a good Mom.
  There are also the days where he is super independent and just wants to sit in his bouncer and giggle. I usually can get things done like housework, or blog work. Sometimes I say fuck it, and watch 3 episodes of Grey's Anatomy, well eating cheese puffs. He smiles all day, and makes my job as a Mom SUPER easy.
 Then there are hybrid days where 40% of the day I want to pull my own hair out, 40% he is happy and easy, and 20% he is crying and smiling at the same time. We can't win them all, right?
 Regardless of what kind of mood he is in though, I've realized something. The only thing that is consistent from day to day is this.(well besides my morning coffee)
No matter what you do to me, I will always love you more than you could know.
I think that right there is what being a Mom means.

Happy Mother's day to all you beautiful Mom's out there. I hope you know just how amazing you really are. I also would like to add that being a Mom means you are proud of your Starbucks addiction....
